Senior dance classes the new popular pastime in the shire

DANCE
Dance is one of the most popular pastimes for youth in the Douglas Shire and now those a little older can get involved in the action.
Bodies in Motion (BIM) Dance School in Mossman has recently launched a new program called ‘Ballet for Seniors’.
The program is run in conjunction with the Queensland Ballet and is aimed at ageing adults, both men and women.
BIM Principal Saskia Turner said the program was formulated under extensive research by industry professionals.
“The classes focus on improving poise, core strength, memory and mobility,” she said.
“As we get older, keeping our bodies strong and agile is more important than ever, which is why we are so excited to bring this program to the Douglas Shire.
“Two of our teaching staff here at Bodies in Motion have recently completed the certification for this course and we are excited to be accredited providers of this wonderful program.
“These classes are a great way to challenge the mind and body while making new friends and connecting with like-minded dance enthusiasts,” Ms Turner said.
The local dance school has received such great feedback about the new dance program that they have extended their timetable, to fit more weekly classes in.
‘Ballet for Seniors’ (aimed at adults 55-years and over) is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30am. ‘Ballet for Adults’ (aimed at adults 55-years and under) is on Thursdays at 6:30pm.
