Local budding musician accepted into prestigious music program

11-year-old local boy and budding musician Kai-Smith Marron has been accepted into a prestigious music program bringing his dream of becoming a professional musician a step closer to reality.
Kai, a dual instrumentalist, was recently accepted into the Music Program of Excellence at Cairns State High School.
As a full-time student of Lynda’s Music Studio here in the Douglas Shire, Kai has been learning guitar for almost five years before starting his second instrument, Alto Sax just this year.
Music teacher Lynda Irvine said spaces in the Cairns music program are highly sought after and students apply from all over the Far North.
“Part of the application process is an audition performance and interview which Kai handled like a champion,” Lynda said.
His acceptance is a tribute to the high quality of music education he was able to receive locally at Lynda’s Music Studio.
Lynda’s teaching philosophy of encouraging students to purposefully explore their creativity combined with a fun innovative curriculum tailored individually for each student is a perfect fit for students wanting to enjoy music learning for fun or serious study.
Kai has performed in a number of solo and ensembles at Lynda’s student concerts, community events in the Douglas Shire and recently performed in the QMTA 100 years celebration concert at St Monica’s Cathedral in Cairns.
“He and his younger brother Beau were a main stage duo on guitar and vocals at both the Port Douglas and Mossman Christmas street parties organised by the Douglas Shire Council in 2020,” Lynda said.
“Kai’s joy, enthusiasm and dedication when learning music makes teaching him from the very beginning to this level especially rewarding.”
