Changed traffic conditions as triathletes sprint through town

The streets of Port Douglas will once again be buzzing with triathlon action this weekend as athletes return for the 2021 Oceania Sprint Cup.
Hot off the heels of the Oceania Standard Distance Championships two weeks ago, Australia and New Zealand’s top triathletes will face off in the sprint version of the race on Saturday 26 June.
The action kicks off at 8:00am, starting at the Port Douglas Esplanade.
The race includes a 750m Swim off Four Mile Beach, a 20km Bike Ride along sections of Port Douglas Road, Davidson Street and Garrick Street, and a 5km Run along Macrossan Street.

Changed traffic conditions, what you need to know
Sections of some roads will be temporarily closed between 8:00am and 11.30am with diversions in place to ensure residents and visitors can travel into and out of town.
Port Douglas Road:
- Closed between Macrossan and Mahogany Streets.
- Diversion in place via Mudlo Street, Davidson Street & Mahogany Street.
The following streets will also be closed:
- Mowbray Street – between Port Douglas Road to the Esplanade
- Esplanade
- Macrossan Street -between Esplanade & Owen Street
- Blake Street – between Port Douglas Road to Garrick Street
- Garrick Street
- Tide Street
- Beryl Street
- Sand Street
One-way traffic will be in place for:
- Macrossan Street –between Wharf Street and Owen Street
