A 59-year-old Craiglie woman has allegedly blown more than three times the legal limit after being pulled over by Police in Port Douglas over the weekend.

The woman was charged with high range drink driving after providing a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.173.

She is scheduled to appear at Mossman Magistrates Court on February 24.

And she was not the only one with officers conducting several road-side breath tests between Edmonton and Mossman over the weekend, resulting in nine people being charged with drink driving.

Officers detected six low-range drink drivers, one mid-range drink driver and two high range drink drivers.

Senior Constable Matt Cornish said this kind of behaviour is quite concerning to police.

“Knowing there are people that are operating a vehicle on the road whilst they are under the influence of liquor is extremely bad behaviour and can also contribute to dangerous driving,” he said.

A 40-year-old Brinsmead man was also charged with high range drink driving after providing a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.171.

He is also scheduled to appear at Mossman Magistrates Court on February 24.
