Emergency services were called out to a single-vehicle rollover near Mowbray River bridge on the Captain Cook Highway around 6:45am this morning.

A spokesperson from Queensland Ambulance Services (QSA) said a female in her late teens was taken to Mossman hospital with injuries.

Two Fire crews were dispatched to the scene as QAS assessed the stable patient.

According to Fire services, the vehicle was travelling south when it hit the curb before the rollover.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.

With the onslaught of predicted heavy rains in the region Port Douglas Police Sergeant, Damian Meadows, urges residents to drive to suit the conditions.

“When behind the wheel we cannot reinforce the message of the Fatal Five enough.

“Serious accidents can occur when you operate a motor vehicle when drink and drug driving, speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, driving while distracted which means your mobile phone and when fatigued,” he said.
