A mix of commercial and residential customers need to prepare themselves for a planned power outage from 9:00am-3:00pm on Thursday 6 January, 2022.

The Ergon Energy Network said this is required for maintenance to improve the safety and reliability of a section of the network that supplies 48 customers in Port Douglas.

Those affected are on Craven Close, Davidson Street, Mudlo Street, Old Port Road and Port Street.

“We understand that any power interruption is inconvenient, especially in summer, but our crews need to do network maintenance throughout the year and in all kinds of weather.

“There will be no planned outages over the festive season, from 23 December to 4 January, when many fridges and freezers will be fully stocked for celebrations.

“While unplanned outages cannot be prevented, and the risk intensifies during severe weather events, Ergon and Energex have teams ready to respond to any faults 24/7,” said a spokesperson for Ergon.

Ergon Energy says it notifies all impacted customers by mail so they can plan ahead and customers can also register for free SMS outage reminders at: www.ergon.com.au/selfservice.
