The Port Douglas Covid-19 testing site at the Port Douglas Community Centre on Mowbray Street has been extended a further four days to December 24. It was originally available for testing from December 17-20.

It is open from 8:00am to 3:00pm and bookings are not required.

In confirming this today, Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr, who has been working tirelessly to get the testing extended, said this is a bonus and hoped it would go for a longer period.

“More than 350 have been tested since the clinic opened on December 17 and I was surprised by the large number,” said Kerr.

With tourists coming into the port and required to be tested five days after their arrival, the longer the testing clinic is available, the more convenient it will be. There is the option of a free return shuttle service to Mossman Hospital.
