The Douglas Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) is currently working with the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) to assess the need of setting up a COVID testing site in Port Douglas for the upcoming period.

But for now, Mossman Hospital is the only location available for testing in the Douglas Shire. This is significant for visitors to the shire who must complete a Covid test on day five after arrival.
Tourism and Events Queensland has issued the following directive:

Queensland's border will open to all domestic visitors from 1:00am on Monday, 13 December as Queensland is set to achieve 80 per cent vaccination status this week.

• Fully vaccinated travellers from interstate hot spots can arrive by road or air, they must provide a negative COVID test in the previous 72 hours and must complete a COVID test on day five after arrival. No quarantine is required;

• There are no restrictions for travellers arriving from other parts of Australia (ie. from non-hot spot areas);

• International arrivals must be fully vaccinated and return a negative COVID test within 72 hours of departure, they will be required to get a test on arrival and must go into home or hotel quarantine for 14 days;

• All arrivals, no matter where from, must complete relevant entry declarations and abide by the public health directions in place at the time.

Notes: COVID-19 testing is available for free and negative results will be advised via SMS or phone call. If you have not received a notification within 36 hours, please contact Pathology Queensland on 1800 472 847.

Note: Please leave one message only with your name and number. Please remain in your car, windows up and engine on until requested to come forward for testing. Symptomatic patients requiring emergency treatment can present to the Mossman Hospital Emergency Department wearing a mask. If you require a test for reasons such as travel or work please visit your GP for a referral to a suitable clinic.
