As Queensland continues to record Covid-19 cases – there were 20 overnight – Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has re-introduced masks state-wide which will be mandatory from 1:00am tomorrow.

The wearing of masks will be mandatory in shops, hospitals, aged care, public transport and ride share vehicles across Queensland.

Because bars, clubs and hospitality venues are only open to vaccinated people as of today, they will not be affected by this mandate.

Ms Palaszczuk said she is not expecting lock down over Christmas and the New Year, adding the wearing of masks can help to slow down the virus from spreading.

She said when Queensland met the 90 per cent vaccination mark, the mandate will be revisited.

It is believed close on 60,000 will converge on Queensland during this holiday period and protection will be a key issue.
