Four Port Douglas and one Mossman volunteer community organisation will benefit from the Federal Government’s $20 million Volunteer Grants to support the crucial role that they play within our community.

The Douglas Shire beneficiaries are Douglas Chamber of Commerce, Mossman Meteors Swimming Club, Port Douglas AFL Football Club, Port Douglas State School and P&C Association and Port Douglas Surf Lifesaving Club.

The 2021 Volunteer Grants provide organisations with grants of between $1000 to $5000 to help organisations buy small equipment for volunteers or reimbursing volunteer fuel, transport or training costs, or support promotional activities.

Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch today announced $111,975 in funding for 28 community organisations across Douglas and Far North Queensland.

“Volunteers across Leichhardt freely give their time to support local organisations in a variety of ways and make an extraordinary contribution to our community.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our community and by continuing to help each other and work together we are building a stronger and safer Cairns and Far North Queensland,” said Entsch.
