The normally quiet town of Mossman was shaken at 7:30 this morning when an out-of-control car smashed through the window of Port Douglas Florist and Mossman Florist on Front Street.

Mossman businessman and Douglas Shire councillor Peter McKeown, who photographed the incident, said it was a bizarre scene.

“It’s not the sort of thing we expected in Mossman. It is tragic though, as the shop has been severely damaged,” said McKeown.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman told NewsCorp two patients had been taken to Mossman Hospital in a stable condition.

The owner of the florist, Heike Anderson, who rents the shop through Property Shop, could not be contacted.

Property Shop principal Alan Crossman said it was too early to say how much damaged was caused and the cost involved.

“This is being investigated as we speak and this will involve a lot of work. I am relieved the owner was not in the shop at the time.

“We would obviously like to see Heike back in business as soon as possible and we may look at a couple of options,” said Crossman.
