Anyone waiting for a vaccination in the Douglas Shire will be relieved to know that the backlog of bookings is easing and there are appointments available from tomorrow.

From tomorrow, Friday 27 August, Mossman Medical Centre has availability for the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination for those aged 40-59 years to have their first or second shot.

From the 30th August, the same will apply to anyone aged 16-59 years.

This will come as welcome news for anyone unable to secure an appointment at the Mossman Hospital or not wanting, or unable to make the trip to Cairns for their Covid-19 shots.

A spokesperson from Port Village Medical Centre told Newsport that Mossman Medical Centre is very busy and so people can also make bookings through Port Village Medical Centre.

The public is being reminded that while appointments can be made via Port Village Medical Centre, at this stage all vaccinations will be done at Mossman Medical Centre, in the Town & Country Shopping Centre on Front St.
