Last Friday, Douglas United beat James Cook University in both the second and third Division of the FNQ Football League at the Port Douglas Sports Complex.

Kicking off the night was the third Division in a match that saw coach Chris Snel's team dominate possession and goals.

Argentinian striker, Nacho Mascio, scored his second goal of the season in the 35th minute to bring the game to 1-0.

By the 70th minute, Andrés Certuche had placed the second and last goal of the match cementing their victory, 2-0.

“It's always important to keep a clean sheet especially for a centre back. Most of us just played a couple of matches together,” said Diego Montarce after a solid defensive performance.

In the second appointment of the night, everything was set up for the Division two Dragon's to shine.

“We found this match harder than the previous one, but we are an experienced team that likes playing good soccer,” said centre back Rodrigo Medina.

In the first half, Ramiro Vilar gave the Dragon’s the lead, scoring two goals.

The away team tried to inch closer in the goals in the second half, but all their moves were useless.

English striker, Jamie Gosling, then scored the first of his three goals of the night putting the match 3-0. Some minutes later, a pop up from Medina in the box gave the Dragons their fourth goal.

When the match was almost over, there was just time for Gosling's hat trick. 6-0 for the Dragons.

With these results both squads are currently sitting in top spot on the ladder.

Next Friday it's time to play at home against Southside Comets FC LEVY (6.30 pm for 3rd Division) and Stratford Dolphins FC Second (8.30 pm for 2nd Division). Both matches will take place at Port Douglas Sports Complex.
