If you're like most of Australia, then you celebrate each morning with one very special thing - a cup of coffee.

Any coffee lover knows that drinking coffee is a ritualic and nuanced moment - the familiar warmth, the rich aroma and the tranquilness of sitting down with a fresh cuppa – coffee is understanding and conservations, coffee is a warm hug by an old friend, coffee will never let you down.

So, whether it’s a flat white or a cappuccino that’s your beloved brew or only a short strong espresso can do, today is the day to hail the coffee bean, well actually it’s a berry, but let’s not grind the specifics because it’s COFFEE!

Today is International Coffee Day – the ultimate day to get perked and stay caffeinated!

Coined by the International Coffee Organisation, International Coffee Day is all about toasting up everything we love about coffee and being vigilant to supporting ethically grown coffee, as one of the world’s largest crops it is important to know where your cuppa comes from.

Since the ninth century coffee beans have percolated throughout the world starting from tropical Africa to take away cups quite literally everywhere. Through its vast history from ancient civilisations to the present day the bean has been used as currency, medicine, candies and of course the popular drink we know and love today.

Life is too short for bad coffee and thankfully, the Tropical North has no short supply of excellent coffee, like these two places that are always a good choice for your caffeine indulgence.

Lure Restaurant Port Douglas

When you want that beautifully done cup of coffee that’s as Instagramable as the views, Lure brings it in spades.

Using speciality barista approved ingredients starting from the core beans of Vittoria Oro Blend to proper Crema milk to Bon Soy ensures you’re getting a sip of perfection.

Owner Kelly Caughey said that all the baristas at Lure have been working the machine for four to 10 years, and they’re the only ones who touch it.

“The coffee we serve here is special because we care about every little detail. Our espresso martinis and iced coffees are made with fresh espresso shots,” she said.

Lure is offering a fabulous $12 espresso martini special from 10:00am to 3:00pm on International Coffee Day along with their everyday coffee and cake specials.

Temptations Mossman

When we mention all the things we love about coffee - it’s dependable, it’s warm and has the ability to surprise you - well Temptations embodies all these.

They’ve carved a niche for themselves as an outrageously welcoming spot - as soon as you step into this family-run café you know you’re in for something really special and that’s been proven by being a Mossman staple for years going from strength to strength with a very loyal customer base that continues to grow.

The quality of the coffee is exquisitely high, the staff are always keen for a friendly chat and goodie cabinet is always full of marvellous treats.

Pia Mckeown said coffee isn’t just a drink, it’s an experience that is unique to everyone and with just a few sips you’re rejuvenated.

“Whether it’s a hot latte or an espresso you can do so much with coffee, you can spice it up, add vanilla, each cup is special to everyone, we love being able to provide that to our guests,” she said.
The Temptation experience has been meticulously crafted to ensure every step of your visit is enjoyable and it shows.
