Students from across Douglas have been representing the region in school sports, competing in Cairns against teams from across the Far North, coming home with some excellent results.

Local teachers have worked hard to get students involved in as many activates as possible after so much was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Here’s a taste of the action:

On Tuesday 1 September 11 boys and girls from Julatten, Miallo, Saint Augustine’s and Port Douglas State School competed in the Jamie Gosling FNQ Football Championships placing third out of nine Cairns teams.

Then on Wednesday 2 September another team of 12 boys from Mossman, Julatten, Miallo, Saint Augustine’s and Port Douglas State School competed in the Jamie Gosling FNQ Football Championships and were runners up out of nine Cairns teams.

Lewis Marano was awarded 'player of the tournament' on that day out of approximately 110 students from nine different schools.

On Thursday 10 September 55 girls from Mossman State High competed at the Fowlers Group Netball Tournament in Cairns.

With two senior teams, three Under 15 teams and one year seven team, Mossman had the biggest number of representatives from all competing schools.

Multiple teams made the semi-finals and one Under 15 team placed runners up.
