STATE ELECTION
State election candidates for the seat of Cook went head to head in Port Douglas on Saturday at a meet the candidate forum hosted by the Douglas Shire Ratepayers Association.

Six of the eight Cook candidates - Independent Yodie Batzke, LNP’s Nipper Brown, NQ First’s Desmond Tayley, One Nation’s Brett (Beaver) Neal, KAP’s Tanika Parker, and Labor’s Cynthia Lui - were present.
The Greens’ Deby Ruddell, and UAP’s Stephen Goulmy were absent.
Each candidate had five minutes to introduce themselves before facing questions from the audience. You can find out more about each candidate at Newsport’s election coverage page.
Topics ranged from restoring Mossman Hospital maternity services, tourism support, the Daintree microgrid, and water security, amongst others.
Pre poll voting is currently open at the Mossman Shire Hall.

- 9.00am to 9.00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
On election day, Saturday 31 October you can vote at the following places between 8.00am and 6.00pm.
