The State election has come and gone, and it has been a red victory across the state with Labor claiming the win, predicted to take 52 seats to the LNP’s 34 with Annastacia Palaszczuk the first woman in Australian history to win three elections.

In Cook, Cynthia Lui is on track to retain her seat surging ahead on the primary vote, currently sitting on 38.28 per cent, with preferences - still being calculated - also predicted to fall in her favour.

The LNP’s Nipper Brown gained 26.53 per cent followed by the KAP’s Tanika Parker on 18.65 per cent of the official first preference count.

Cynthia Lui is yet to officially claim victory, waiting for the official declaration to come from the ECQ.

There has also been little change across the Far North with Labor set to retain the seats of Cairns, Barron River, and Mulgrave, while Hill will stay KAP.

How our region voted

Across the region, there were mixed results with places like Port Douglas, Mossman and Wonga voting towards Labor while Daintree, and Miallo had more votes for the LNP.
