Christmas events: Chamber encourages business sponsorship to promote xmas spirit

DO IT IN DOUGLAS

To encourage the Christmas Spirit, the Douglas Chamber of Commerce is working on a variety of events and has been working collaboratively with Douglas Shire Council and a group of volunteers to deliver a truly memorable Christmas to the Douglas Shire.

“To foster the Christmas Spirit we are working on a string of events across the shire including a Shop Local Campaign, Retail Christmas Display Competition, Macrossan Street Late Night Trading and a Douglas Street Party event to be held in Mossman.

“The Street party is aimed at uniting our Shire in a celebration with performers, rides and slides for the kids, markets and more. Chamber and Council have both donated to support this event and we are calling on our business community to chip in and assist to make this event a highlight of the year and raise the Christmas Spirit across the Shire,” said Chamber president Liz Ross.

Ms Ross said the Chamber is encouraging businesses to sponsor or offer a donation for the event to cover expenses such as event co-ordination, rides and operations.

“We understand it has been a hard year for all business across the shire and donations can be as small as $20 or a prize for the event or you may like to chip in and sponsor a ride for the kids to have some fun.”

All donations can be made to Douglas Chamber of Commerce and your sponsorship and business will be advertised on the night and in marketing campaigns.
