VIDEO | Police go on a wild goose chase

WILDLIFE
The Port Douglas Magpie Geese have become a local fixture, with residents patiently stopping their cars every time the geese cross the road, but yesterday they wandered further afield and required a little police assistance.
Officers from Port Douglas Police Station said they were down for an adventure when they were asked to help out with the rescue and release of a misguided gaggle of magpie geese from a local backyard pool.
After taking a gander at the situation, officers decided to wing it and used a trusty cardboard box and a pool net to collect all sixteen chirping chicks.

The four adult birds followed on-flipper behind the police.
The family of tiny trespassers was safely taken to a local wetland area after their beak and enter attempt.
Despite the fuss, the feathered fiends seemed pretty egg-cited about their new home.
