Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours, which has been closed since a man tragically lost his life in October, has today announced it will stay closed for good.

The ziplining tour has been under a Workplace Health and Safety investigation since 50-year-old Adelaide man, Dean Sanderson fell to his death while on the attraction, while his 48-year-old wife, Shannon Sanderson, was also seriously injured.

Late last year the company had hoped to reopen in March, however now with the coronavirus pandemic, they have decided this is no longer possible and to close permanently.

A statement released by the company said with a heavy heart they advise that Jungle Surfing and Jungle Adventures have closed their doors for good.

“As you know, the last five months has been a very testing time for us, and our thoughts continue to be with the families and friends that have been affected by the tragic accident,” the statement reads.

“We have all fought long and hard to get the business up and running, but after the COVID-19 pandemic it has become financially impossible for us to continue and reinstate the zipline tour.

“We are thinking of everyone doing it tough right now. We hope you can all ride out the storm and see brighter days soon,” Jungle Surfing said.
