New play equipment and an off-leash zone

PARK UPGRADES
George Davis Park in Mossman has been given a spruce up with a new junior play unit, new plants and an off-leash zone added to the site.
Douglas Shire Council staff and contractors have been working on the site, which is scheduled to re-open to the public on Monday, 15 June.
Council’s Executive Manager of Infrastructure, Michael Kriedemann, thanked the public for their patience during the closure.
“Our workers have cut some turf that has been laid so we will need to keep the park closed over the weekend to give it time to set,’ he said.
“I would like to thank the public for their patience and encourage people to check out the new equipment and off-leash zone next week.”
Recent works completed includes:
- Construction and installation of new shade sail
- Installation of new junior play unit and soft fall zone
- Irrigation repairs and upgrade.
- New grass turf around play unit.
- Landscaping works and new plants will be carried out as the park re-opens.
The new play equipment is part of the $525,000 Playground Renewal Program, which saw upgrades at 10 playgrounds stretching from Cape Tribulation to Craiglie.
