Local HR specialist Phoebe Kitto will help businesses through webinars and one-on-one sessions.

Struggling Douglas businesses are being offered a helping hand through access to free professional workforce advice to help them get back on track as lockdown restrictions ease.

The Douglas Economic Recovery Group is working with local Human Resources Specialists, HR Dynamics to offer face-to-face professional workforce advice and a webinar program over the next eight weeks.

Douglas Shire Council has fully funded the recovery program, scheduled to start on Wednesday 17 June, to help the local business sector persevere through current tough times.

HR Dynamics Director Phoebe Kitto said the webinars and one-on-one sessions were tailored to help local business owners manage their staff in the constantly changing environment.

“Local business owners, particularly in Port Douglas, have shown a great deal of resilience across workplaces clouded by uncertainty and confusion,” she said.

“The webinar program will feature guest speakers who can help businesses get back on track and navigate the ever-evolving landscape.

“I am also keen to speak to local business owners for more in-depth discussions about how they are going and what they can do through any changes to JobKeeper and WHS requirements.”

Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr encouraged business owners to get involved in the free program.

“I have been really impressed at how our businesses are staying positive during this tough period and constantly adapting,” he said.

“The free economic recovery workshops and one-on-one sessions are a fantastic opportunity for anyone who may be feeling overwhelmed with the current situation to get some free help.”

Ms Kitto will be available at the Port Douglas Community Hall every Wednesday starting 17 June from 9:00am to midday for 30-minute appointments.

Interested business owners are invited to book a time by calling 40517307 or e-mailing caitlin@hrdynamics.com.au
