Three Crocs celebrate 100 games at first home match of 2020
SPORT
Three local players will celebrate a significant milestone today when footy returns to the Croc Pitt for the first time in the 2020 season.
Brett McKeown (24), Joshua Lea (28), and Ethan McCullough (22) have each reached 100 games playing for the Port Douglas Crocs.
The Crocs will celebrate the milestones while also marking the first home game of the season with the traditional unfurling of the premiership flag - in style.
Prior to today’s senior game, the Crocs 2019 premiership flag and trophy will be delivered by helicopter to the ground.
The three milestone players will have the honours of raising the flag.
Crocs president Barry Lea said reaching 100 games is a rare feat in Port Douglas, with so many transient players passing through the football club.
“Individually and collectively these three players have been a unique fibre of the football club over the last six years,” he said.
“They have all achieved club honours and are premiership players with a knack of lifting on the big stage.”
The Crocs will run out later today against Centrals Trinity Beach, with the reserves kicking off at noon followed by the seniors at 2:00pm at the Port Douglas Sporting Complex.
