The Rescue Helicopter were called to a private property in Mount Carbine on Saturday night.

A 39-year-old man is recovering in Cairns Base Hospital in a stable condition after suffering a head injury after reportedly falling off the back of a ute in Mount Carbine over the weekend.

Critical Care paramedics and the Rescue Helicopter were called to a private property in Mount Carbine at 7:10pm on Saturday night.

A police spokesperson said it is believed the man was out collecting firewood when he has slipped off the moving vehicle and hit his head.

He was transported to Cairns Hospital via the Rescue Helicopter in a serious but stable condition with head, chest and leg injuries.

Police urged motorists to drive carefully and follow to road rules even when on private property.

Police investigations are continuing.
