The Douglas Dragons are taking a cautious approach in their opening game of the season against Leichhardt at the Port Douglas Sports Complex at 7.30 tomorrow night.

Although they have huge respect for Leichhardt, who ended third in last year’s premiership, the Dragons are a team with an excellent reputation, especially after having won their third successive premiership last year when they beat the Atherton Eagles 2-1 in extra-time in their FNQ Football Second Division Men's Final.

“We are quietly confident about tomorrow’s game and having most of last year’s players in the squad is a bonus.

“We are expecting a fast, attacking game and to be tested by a team who may be fitter than us. Our limited preparation and not playing trial matches is a factor which cannot be ignored,” said coach Andrew Robinson.

Robinson said the Dragons will assess their performance after the first half which will allow them to analyse their performance and whether a change in tactics may necessary.

For Robinson, last season ended on an excellent note when he was named the second division Coach of the Year.
