Aussie band Regurgitator to headline Children’s Festival

Looking for a fun weekend of events for the kids? The Cairns Children’s Festival has revealed its 2020 line up with a little something thrown in there for the parents too.
Iconic Australian music legends Regurgitator, along with interactive dinosaurs, and a classic children’s tale were announced yesterday as this year’s headline ticketed events.
Now in its seventh year, the Festival has grown to become the region’s most popular festival for little people, with the 2020 line-up of ticketed shows some of the biggest acts around in children’s entertainment.
Attracting up to 5,000 children and families, the Children’s Festival encourages children aged 12 and under to play, learn, explore, create, be inspired and perform, all in a fun and safe environment.
The 2020 format sees the Festival take place across two separate days at both the Cairns Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) on Saturday 16 May, and the Botanic Gardens and Tanks Arts Centre precinct on Sunday 17 May.
In a coup for grown-ups, parents will be able to rock out with music legends, Regurgitator, when they perform their acclaimed new children’s show, Pogogo, at Tanks Arts Centre on Sunday 17 May.
Regurgitator are an Australian rock band from Brisbane, first popular in the 90s but in 2019 they changed things up releasing a children’s album.
Award-winning Australian puppetry and interactive theatre company, Erth, are bringing their larger-than-life dinosaur show back after selling out three shows at the 2016 Cairns Children’s Festival. This year CPAC will host three performances in the main theatre on Saturday 16 May, as well as an extra day of performances on Friday 15 May.
For the region’s readers, the classic tale of The Owl and The Pussycat will be brought to life on the CPAC stage on Saturday 16 May, with an enchanting and intimate theatrical experience for the whole family to cherish.
Tickets for all three events are on sale now and the full 2020 program will be announced in April.
Other events coming up at CPAC include the popular musical Mamma Mia, which is currently running now through to the 1 February, Marty Sheargold’s stand-up comedy show on 8 February, and the hugely popular children’s book, The 91-Storey Treehouse play adaption on 17 March.
