The festive spirit was well and truly alive under the iconic raintrees in Mossman on Wednesday evening for the inaugural Christmas Night Markets.

Hundreds turned out to explore and nab a Christmas gift from one of the 28 cotters market stalls and five food vendors, lit up by the lights in the raintrees above.

While the sounds of Christmas songs floated across the event thanks to young carollers.

Robyn Frahn, Market Coordinator of the Christmas market committee from St David’s Church, said the local turnout was even better than expected.

“It was really great, and it looked really pretty all lit up under the lights,” she said.

“All the stalls were decorated in Christmas decorations and lights as well, it looked awesome.”

Ms Frahn said the Christmas markets were a tester to see what the appetite for night markets in Mossman was and the feedback has been very positive.

“A lot of attendees loved it and have asked when we will do it next,” she said.

Ms Frahn said they will look at adding more night markets next year, possibly starting with Easter.
