As Christmas nears and the frenzy of holiday shopping ensues, it is important to “Buy Douglas, Build Douglas” urging community members to patronise locally owned businesses. A philosophy that can be used all year round – Beau Gentry Menswear makes it easy, as they continuously stock the newest men’s fashions that will surprise and delight.

Beau Gentry has an exciting history as the place to shop and this remains the case, as the local family owned business is filled with wonderful stories of regular A-list celebs, elite sportsmen, famous musicians, and politicians, all being outfitted in up to the minute fashions from Italy, German, Spain and Australia.

Beau Gentry was founded in the 60’s in Brisbane selling Carnaby Street of London styled menswear that typified the Beatles era. Jackets with colourful linings and op art styled shirts with big collars. A time when men’s fashion was an outlet for expression and an art form in itself. In the seventies it moved location to Noosa heads.

From its beginnings to now, Beau Gentry showcases far-ranging and eye-opening styles – there is something that will appeal to everyone. Nearly 60 years later Beau Gentry continues the tradition of importing right up to the minute European styles.

Forty years ago, the current owners took over, and expanded the business to Mooloolaba and Port Douglas, continuing with the same tradition and business ethos. As men’s styles evolve the one consistent is that Beau Gentry will have the latest looks in stock - quality timeless attire that fits your lifestyle.

Beau Gentry has been in Port Douglas for over 18 years, operating out of the same colonial mews type of location that is unique to Short Cut Lane, and was developed by the late Brian Ray, when Mantra On The Inlet was built, and in conjunction with the restoration of the Courthouse Hotel, originally established in 1878.

The quaint laneway has proved itself an ideal position for the ever-changing product with many brands from Europe imported for each new season. They currently have the 2021 ranges in stock for this summer which have just recently arrived.

The owners show integrity and enthusiasm and with every purchase pass on the same zest to the customer.

Discover an extensive range of Paul and Shark from Italy, Meyer from Germany, Florentino from Spain as well as accessories galore, featuring an Italian belt collection that will make lovely gifts for that special person.
