Sky’s the limit for new Habitat attraction
TOURISM
The new re-imagined rainforest attraction at the Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas is nearing completion and is set to take visitors to new heights, literally.
The new Rainforest Habitat will feature the breathtaking addition of a “Birdseye Bridge” suspended high above the rainforest canopy along with cascading treehouse-esque viewing platforms.
The multilevel adventure will take guests through tons of lush flora while interacting with rainforest inhabitants like Cassowaries, Pademelons and wide variety of stunning Tropical birds.
Wildlife Habitat General Manager, Andrew Hearn, said the new Rainforest Habitat will be one of the most unique attractions to Far North Queensland.
“It is important to us to keep putting our best foot forward to showcase the region, ensuring a truly special experience. We want to be a place where people can come together, both the local community and visitors,” he said.
Mr Hearn shared his optimism that the tourism industry will return strong and that the Cairns and Great Barrier Reef region is one of those places that people will be looking to for an escape with all the gifts of Mother Nature.
“Now more than ever, it’s important to secure these new investments while putting in significant effort to highlight the region - in these times it’s not just counting the numbers of visitors through the door.
“We need to bolster the destination in a unique way so the community will thrive. We need to continually be innovative to the needs and wants of our domestic market, this is what will make our industry resilient from all the challenges we face,” he said.
Demonstrating a great amount of confidence for tourism in the region, the locally owned Woodward Family CaPTA Group that includes Wildlife Habitat, Rainforestation Nature Park, Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and Cairns ZOOM & Wildlife Dome is investing significantly and working diligently to ensure that their attractions are seamless, safe, inclusive, and sustainable.
Mr Hearn expressed remarkable gratitude to the local community, as without them keeping the doors open would be a lot harder.
“We would just like to say thank you to our community for being a part of our family, we are very grateful for your continued patronage.
“One of the great joys of being part of this community for 30 years is the loyalty of the locals - we have seen so many familiar faces it really is heart-warming to know we have their support.
“The least we can do is give them something fresh and different when they visit. From monster projects like the Rainforest rebuild, an artisan new menu in the café to our popular Birds and Books storytime, we want to surprise and delight with every visit,” he said.
Wildlife Habitat extends a 20% discount to all locals on entry as well as a CaPTA Group Annual Pass to all of the group’s parks, which is a perfect high-value option that provides endless fun for the family.
