The Douglas Shire Council has broken new ground by producing a pamphlet advising rate payers where their money is being spent.

Rate payers would have received it with their latest rates.

“This idea was presented to me and I had no hesitation in endorsing it. This is a first for us and I am uncertain if other councils follow suit.

“The data clearly shows where the money is being spent. It is informative and easy to follow,” said Mayor Michael Kerr.

Labelled Budget 2020-21, it includes capital highlights and a list of how every $100 in general rates is spent.
