EARLIER:

Police are seeking assistance from the Far North community to locate a 79-year-old man missing from the Herberton area since 4 August.

Robert Platt (pictured) was on a road trip and returning from Cairns to his home in North Brisbane.

Robert is believed to have been staying at an unknown campground in Herberton and had indicated he was planning on travelling to Ravenshoe. He has not been heard from since.

Police hold concern for his welfare as the behaviour is out of character and he suffers a medical condition.

He was travelling in a Jayco campervan bearing Queensland registration plates 721 VKW. He was also travelling with his three-legged dog.

Robert is described as Caucasian, a proportionate build with grey hair and a beard. It is unknown what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.

Anyone who has any information about Robert’s whereabouts should contact police.

If you have information for police, contact Policelink by providing information using the online form 24hrs per day at www.police.qld.gov.au/reporting.
