New drive-through COVID-19 testing opens in Mossman

COVID-19

The Mossman Hospital is opening a drive-through fever clinic at Mossman Showgrounds from Monday 10 August to help boost local testing for COVID-19.

Mossman Hospital Director of Nursing and Midwifery and Facility Manager, Peter Le Griffon, said the testing has been set up to rapidly respond to increased demand for testing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Testing is important to keep us all safe,” Mr Le Griffon said.

“The more people who are tested, the sooner we will be able to act if there is COVID-19 transmission within the community.

“This gives us a better chance to shut down an outbreak”

Anyone with Symptoms is urged to get tested. Symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, lack of taste or smell, and fatigue.

“Tests at the drive-through testing clinic are free but people do need to make an appointment,” Mr Le Griffon said.

“All people being tested should isolate themselves until their test results are available.”

The Drive-through COVID testing clinic is by appointment only, phone 0459 803 382.

Children under 14 years cannot be tested at the drive-through and will need to be seen by their GP or at a hospital emergency department.
