Busby Marou new headliner at Port Douglas’ Wonderland Under the Stars

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT EVENT

Port Douglas’ newest live entertainment event, ‘Wonderland Under The Stars’, has had a big change in its line-up with organisers today announcing acclaimed Australian duo, Busby Marou will replace Aussie rocker Tex Perkins as the headline act.

Queensland's border restrictions mean Tex Perkins is unable to perform in Port Douglas in September, so the Queensland based Busby Marou have been added and will take to the stage over two nights.

In a weekend of entertainment from 10 to 13 September, the team from Wonderland Spiegeltent, a favourite from Port Douglas Carnivale, have created a brand new socially distanced and COVID-safe event, full of magic and music, under the stars in Rex Smeal Park, Port Douglas.

The weekend’s events include the internationally acclaimed circus sensation, A Simple Space, roving performances by fire twirlers and percussionists, and live music by outstanding North Queensland blues outfit Lady Valiant supporting the festival favourites, Busby Marou.

Director of Wonderland Spiegeltent, Melissa Head, said it has been an extraordinary year for everyone, and the team at Wonderland aim to create a magical escape for audiences.

“Putting together this show has been met with overwhelming positivity, and we cannot wait to be back on stage, this time in the open air under tropical stars,” she said.

Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr said it will be great to get “some fun times” happening in Douglas again.

“We have had so much doom and gloom around COVID-19, this will be a great chance to get out in the open and have a COVID safe night of entertainment,” he said.

Tickets are on sale now.
