Wheelie Good Coffee gets a new face as Michelle hits the road

A pensioners’ discount, an EFTPOS payment option and dogachinos are just some of the fresh initiatives the new owner of Wheelie Good Coffee, David Elkan, plans to introduce over the next few weeks.

Located at the entrance to IGA, the coffee stand has been around for seven years and proven to be a popular spot for early-morning tradies and midday shoppers.

And fresh from taking over the reins from Michelle Renshaw, who has decided to take her career in a different direction, Elkan is looking forward to an exciting time ahead.

“I am not into making radical changes. My plan is to introduce fresh initiatives which will enhance our product.

“My plans include a 10 per cent discount for pensioners; an EFTPOS option for payment and dogachinos. There are a lot of dogs around here and I want to ensure they are catered to,” said the 31-year-old who hails from Bentleigh, Victoria.

It is not uncommon for an order to sound like this: “Two lattes and a puppy-cino please.”

In a SBS report, it was pointed out that humans adore a caffeinated beverage or two, but now the Internet is going mad for dogs drinking puppy-cinos and pup cups.

Formerly a barista at the Carlton Football Club – he is quick to point out he is a St Kilda supporter – Elkan has also been a personal trainer and word is already out he has this additional offering.

Focused on this new venture, his plans include having a second coffee stand, on the Gold Coast.

“This is among my plans. I am not shy of risks, as you never know what may come of it,” he says.

Wheelie Good Coffee offerings include flat whites, long blacks, latte’s, cappuccinos, dogachinos and iced coffee.

It is open Monday to Friday from 6.00am to 1.00pm; and weekends 7.00am to 1.00pm.
