Plans revealed for Port Douglas public swimming lagoon

INFRASTRUCTURE
Port Douglas is finally set to have a swimming lagoon with the plans to develop the land around the Surf Life Saving Club revealed today.
The lagoon will be Australia’s first chemical-free public swimming hole and be situated next to the famous Four Mile Beach.
The plan will require funding input from the state and federal governments and will include an upgrade to the Life Saving Club’s facilities.
An economic report for the project is expected later this year, which will be discussed at public meetings in the coming months.
Council will be accepting feedback on the concept designs online and plan to work collaboratively with the community.
The lagoon is designed to reflect the surrounding natural environment including the Mossman Gorge and Daintree Rainforest.
Council is seeking public feedback on the concept of the lagoon via an online survey that can be accessed below.
