Douglas Netball Association is bringing a new “Fast Five” competition to the region this October.

The friendly mixed-gender netball competition will run over five weeks beginning on 1 October.

Fast Five is a modified version of the traditional game featuring only five players instead of seven, shortened game times, and rolling substitutes which means the speed of the game is fast and intense.

There are also Power Plays to double your score and shots worth one, two or three points
when scored from certain distances from the goal.

Event organiser Mikaela Goodwin said this is a fun competition for both beginners and experienced players alike.

“It is an awesome way to keep fit while having a bit of fun on a Tuesday night. You don’t need to know anything about netball to play, it is super easy and you will pick it up as you go,” she said.

The mixed-gender competition will give males a chance to play the game and Ms Goodwin hopes the modified game will entice more people to have a go.

“Fast Five is a great way to get people interested in playing netball and it’s always fun to mix it up a little by having a few boys on the court as well.

“I really hope this summer season competition will encourage more ladies to come and sign up for next year’s season.”

Douglas Netball invites those interested in playing to come along to the sign on online at My Netball for the new competition.
