Police are seeking public assistance to help locate a 52-year-old man missing from Cairns since yesterday.

Lee Merritt was last seen around 9.00 am yesterday in the Cairns CBD and has not contacted family or friends since.

Police hold concerns for his safety.

He is described as Aboriginal, 175cm tall, heavy build with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police are appealing for him, or anyone with further information to contact police.

Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad yesterday charged a 22-year-old White Rock man after a vehicle was stolen from a home in Craiglie on Friday morning.

Police allege that sometime between 9:30am and 10:30am on Friday 27 September a home was entered
and a Toyota Rav4 was stolen.

Police will also allege that investigations revealed the man was also involved in the vehicle theft.

The man has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is scheduled to
appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
