More details revealed as final month of voting approaches

With less than a month left for voting in the 2019 Douglas Business and Tourism Awards, the organisers have revealed new information regarding the new Mass Reveal format that has already created considerable interest.
Organisers confirmed today that there will be 10 finalists, who will be announced prior to the Mass Reveal Evening on Friday 6 December.
Awards coordinator Paula McFarlane said many of the awards categories have over 25 nominations and organisers want to recognise the contribution of as many businesses as possible in the end-of-year celebration.
The new format being introduced for the Awards 10th year has raised many questions among the businesses.
Awards organiser Sam Cullen said instead of the formal gala presentation evening at the Sheraton Grand, the new format will involve a mass reveal.
“The winners of multiple categories will be revealed in a single moment,” said Mr Cullen.
“All winners will be announced by 9.00pm and the official after-party will follow.
“We would like to thank Hemingway’s Brewery for their support in making this new awards format happen in what will be the best 10th birthday you’ve ever seen,” he said.
Mr Cullen said not only has the team at Hemingway's ordered and guaranteed the best sunset of the decade for the event, they have also given us the keys to the Brewery!
Hemingway’s manager Chris Barber said the brewery has never offered up the keys before.
“We were not exactly sure what Sam Cullen meant by the request. But hey it sounds like fun,” he said.
Event coordinator Adrian Soffe said that voting numbers continue to grow compared to previous years.
“Businesses get enormous value out of the awards,” he said.
Mr Soffe only joined the awards team this year but has followed the program over its 10-year life span.
“It gives me a lot of joy seeing the suppliers and businesses communicating with their clients and customers to celebrate their hard work.
“I know some businesses find it difficult to ask customers to vote, but experience tells us happy customers and suppliers love the opportunity to show their support,” said Mr Soffe.
“This year will be remembered for its slow start after a heavy wet season and the ongoing coverage of the Townsville floods. But we are keen to put this in the back of our minds for one night, with a celebration of beers and bubbles,” said Mr Cullen
There will be live entertainment on offer from 6.00pm to 9.00pm and over $2,000 worth of lucky door prizes.
Organisers have arranged a drone to take a photo of all the businesses for the first time to capture a single expression of unity for the business community.
Tickets to the event are on sale now for $25 via trybooking and will include a welcome drink, nibbles, lucky door prize tickets and happy hour prices on drinks from 6-7pm.
