The marvellous magic of the wondrous travelling Spiegeltent will being a dash of vaudeville back to Port Douglas Carnivale in 2019.


On the back of sold out shows at this year’s Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Wonderland Spiegeltent will once again be the performance hub for festivalgoers at Carnivale.

Featuring an extended program of family and adult shows from 17 to 26 May, the Spiegeltent shows lead into official Carnivale weekend on 24 to 26 May.

Wonderland’s producer, Melissa Head, said herself and her team have been itching to bring the tent and the shows back to Port Douglas.

“We are beyond excited to return to TNQ and Port Douglas Carnivale,” she said.

“Audiences have been loving our world-class line-up of entertainment under the big top; from astonishing acts of acrobatic circus and sizzling cabaret, to laugh-out loud comedy and kid friendly performers, there is something that caters to everyone. 

“We love entertaining the thousands of visitors and locals who look forward to this annual event all year.”

Three main acts will be presented t punters at the tent this year with a show to suit the whims and sensibilities of all who want to attend.

Circus Wonderland presents ‘A Mermaid’s Tale.’ A new all-star line-up of fun, energetic performers in a spellbinding showcase that draws inspiration from the Golden Era of Circus.

A Mermaid's Tale will keep everyone on the edge of their seat with astounding and amazing sideshow antics of a mesmerising cast of world-class circus performers presenting a hilarious and thrilling magical Circus Wonderland for the whole family.

‘Limbo – Up Close’ welcomes viewers to an exotic, illogical world where peculiar characters wait on the edge of a false awakening with the whisper of spirits and domination, illusion and suspension. 

Featuring a stunning international cast performing world-class circus with performers including Coney Island’s sword swallower and vintage beauty, Heather Holliday and acrobatic tap dance sensation Hilton Denis.

An intoxicating mix of cabaret, circus and acrobatics, Prepare to be seduced with a celebration of otherworldly proportions.

Last, but certainly not least, ‘Debauched - Late Night Burlesque’ - starring the gorgeous Gingzilla and special guests, this fun, jaw-dropping late night spectacle is sure to be a night you won’t soon forget.

The multi award-winning cabaret diva Gingzilla is on a mission to conquer the world - witness this iconic seven-foot ginger-bearded drag queen tear up the stage, question your orientation and leave you gagging for more.

Occupying Dixie Park, between St Mary’s and the Sugar Wharf, the Spiegeltent is perfectly primed to offer the best entertainment to all and sundry.
