The countdown is on to the 25th annual Port Douglas Carnivale and with the party in paradise comes a few road closures.

Macrossan Street will be closed to all traffic on Friday afternoon and evening for the Silver and Sunshine Street Parade.

The main street from Owen Street to Wharf Street will be off-limits to all entering traffic from 2.00pm.

Vehicles will be allowed to exit the area up until 5.30pm and a hard road closure will be in place until 9.30pm.

Council has warned any vehicles parked on Macrossan Street won’t be able to leave until after 9:30pm and risk being towed.

Council asks all businesses to inform customers of these restrictions.

The corner of Wharf and Macrossan Streets will be completely closed to all vehicles from 11.00am to 11.00pm on Friday as well.

The following day, Saturday 25 May, the beachside esplanade from Macrossan Street to Mowbray Street will be closed to all traffic from 6.00am until 4.30pm for the Family Beach day.
