The issue of marine rescue services will go before Councillors at Tuesday’s ordinary meeting in Council Chambers at 10am.
It has been advised that Council offers a Trustee Permit to the Public Safety Business Agency (PSBA) on behalf of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) (over Lot 51 on SP288958, Wharf Street Port Douglas), for the purpose of providing marine rescue services covering an area from Ellis Beach to the Hope Islands; and for the storage of flares and associated flammable materials:
This will be for a term of 12 months commencing from 1 May 2019 and expiring 30 April 2020, or until such time as the dispute between the former Flotilla QF10 volunteers and its parent body the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association (AVCGA) is resolved and a trustee lease is formally in place, depending on which is the sooner.
Councillors will vote on offering a Trustee Permit to Coral Coast Judo Club (CCJC) to use the Victor Crees Pavilion for their activities after a need arose for alternate accommodation.
Council’s agenda points out that with the CCJC occupying the Victor Crees Pavilion, a valuable asset will be utilised all year round and provide a much needed training facility for the CCJC.
It’s proposed that council offer a Trustee Permit to CCJC for a period of 12 months commencing 7 May 2019 and expiring 6 May 2020.
Councillors will review the Quarterly Report of the Water and Wastewater branch for the period ending 31 March 2019.
The report documents progress on key operational and service delivery areas as well as the regulatory compliance status within the Water and Wastewater Branch for the period 1 January to 31 March 2019.
According to Council’s report, the results were generally positive although there was a high number of water quality complaints and the shire experienced a new record flood level in more than 100 years at Daintree River.
Notable capital improvements include the nearly complete Daintree Bore installation which will supply raw water to the Daintree raw water reservoir and the new clarifier installed at the Mossman Wastewater Treatment Plant.
