The Douglas Chamber of Commerce is encouraging its members to forward ideas on how the Wangetti Trail can be best utilised.

In an email to its members, it says “the Douglas Chamber encourages you to think about the visual amenity of the trail, and how we could integrate art, sculpture, historical and cultural reference points to enhance the visitor experience.”

It adds that the Wangetti Trail in Tropical North Queensland will be one of Australia’s leading ecotourism experiences, attracting domestic and international visitors that want to experience one-of-a-kind scenery and ancient cultural experiences.

“Following months of intensive fieldwork and planning, the Queensland Government has released the detailed design for the Wangetti Trail route.

“The community is invited to explore the trail route, and to contribute ideas that will help to shape the final experience for visitors.

“Ideas and comments captured will assist the Queensland Government and the Wangetti Trail's future Tourism Operator, and Traditional Owners, to deliver the Wangetti Trail for future generations,” it says.

Ideas and comments can be submitted until 31 May 2019. Comments, and any information provided will be private.
