ANIMAL REFUGE
With a $350,000 price tag hanging over its head, Paws and Claws is well positioned to meet its target as it involves itself in two significant events in May.
To assist in its fundraising drive to build the recently-approved facility at 6-8 Teamsters Close, Craiglie, two successful grants will allow it to present The Gala Dinner in 2019 to celebrate 25 years of Carnivale and 20 years of Paws and Claws.
“The dinner will be held in The Glade at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort on 22 May 2019 and will feature great entertainment from Jenn and Glenn, Michael Griffiths and ABBASOLUTLEY FABULOUS featuring Rhonda Burchmore and Lara Mulchay.

“The evening will include bubbles on arrival and a three-course meal from the wonderful Sheraton kitchen staff,” said Michael Kerr, Paws and Claws president.
“The night will include raffles and an online auction which will allow guests to bid from an app on their phones.
“Over the past years we have been donated some wonderful pieces of art, one which has been valued at over $8000 which will be a highlight of the auction, as well as crystal pieces, pamper packages and more.
“Total Tools in Cairns, one of our sponsors, has donated a wonderful prize which will also be a highlight of the evening. Jetstar have also jumped on board with a $500 travel voucher to raffle on the night,” said Mr Kerr.
Mr Kerr said with the appeal behind us we are really looking forward to this being a stepping stone in the right direction as we move forward in building this much-needed facility.
