COMBINED CLUB: The restaurant at the Port Douglas and District Combined Club (Tin Shed) is up for discussion at tomorrow's Council meeting.

The Port Douglas and District Combined Club’s (Tin Shed) plans to extend their existing restaurant is expected to be knocked back at Tuesday’s ordinary council meeting in Mossman.

In papers, which will be presented to Councillors, it is recommended that the development application be refused.

A number of reasons are provided for the refusal, which include:

  • It does not reflect contemporary community needs insofar as it does not provide adequate on-site car parking to accommodate visitors;
  • It has the potential to affect the amenity of adjacent areas by placing pressure on off-site parking areas including surrounding streets;
  • There is insufficient parking provided on site;
  • There is no known bicycle and end of trip facilities provided on site despite the lack of parking;
  • The lack of parking has the potential to impact on the efficient function of the street network and on the surrounding parking space supply.

Council and the Tin Shed have been at loggerheads for a considerable period and besides being unable to obtain approval to extend their restaurant, they also had to sustain a 131 per cent rent increase in 2017.

Agenda

  1. Request to extend trading hours of liquor license - N17 Burger Co
  2. Material change of use-extension to existing restaurant at 7 Ashford Avenue
  3. Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) 2019-20 funding application
