The newest education option for families in the Douglas Shire will be hosting an information session this Wednesday to drum up interest in the new school.

The Tropical North Steiner School will open its doors to students in 2020 if enrollment numbers can support the funding for a teacher.

Director and pioneer of the school, Julie Verri, said the information session on Wednesday would give Douglas Shire residents a chance to find out more about the new school.

“This session will give us chance to update the community on the new developments and updates on where the school is going,” she said.

“We have reached a huge milestone and are looking at being able to provide the school with leadership including 22 years experience is Steiner education.”

Ms Verri also said the info session will allow parents and guardians to learn about Steiner Education and how it all works.

“It will be all about meeting and learning more about what Steiner has to offer,” she said.

“We will go through what the curriculum looks like and how it meets the needs of all children in a hands-on holistic curriculum.

“The man focus of Steiner is learning through doing; not just sitting at a desk being fed information but processing and learning through doing and actions.”

The school is aiming to begin with Prep to Class three next year with a view of growing naturally each year to Class six.

The information session will run from 5.00pm tp 7.00pm on Wednesday 31 July at 78 Foxton Avenue Mossman with light refreshments provided.

To RSVP to the information night, contact Julie Verri on 0406 486 487 or to enrol a child or children, visit www.tropicalnorthsteiner.org.
