Mareeba attack: Ayr man dies following vicious assault

A 35-year-old man from Ayr has lost life after he was attacked by two other men in Mareeba on Wednesday night.
The man died at Townsville Hospital around 11:30pm surrounded by family after he was found unconscious near the Mareeba Showgrounds on 10 July.

A 23-year-old Hillcrest man and a 26-year-old Beenleigh man were both charged with grievous bodily harm and are now before Cairns Magistrates Court.
Anyone who was in the area on the night is urged to contact police, if they have not already done so.
It is believed the three men were workers at the Mareeba Show but the Mareeba Show Society declined to comment on the incident.
