Man bashed in Mareeba after a fight with a woman

UPDATE (12-07-18):
Detectives investigating the serious assault of a man at the Mareeba Rodeo Grounds, Kerribee Park on Wednesday night are appealing for witnesses of the incident to come forward.
Around midnight, following an altercation, a man was attacked and located unconscious at the rodeo grounds on Mareeba Dimbulah Road.
The victim, a 35-year-old man from Ayr, is currently in the Townsville Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have heard a loud disturbance at the rodeo grounds (showgrounds) between 11.00pm and midnight, or anyone who may have images or footage of a disturbance to contact police.
EARLIER (11/07/19):
A 35-year-old man was airlifted to Townsville hospital in a critical condition after he was assaulted in Mareeba last night.
Police say investigations indicate the man was involved in an altercation with a 26-year-old woman at the Mareeba Showgrounds at around 11.45pm last night.
A short time later police were called to Mareeba-Dimbulah Road after the man was attacked and located unconscious.
Paramedics performed first aid at the scene where the man was found before transporting him to hospital.
The man was transported to Mareeba Hospital before being airlifted to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition.
Police are urging any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the attack or who were in the area at the time and may not have spoken yet to contact them.
