FNQ community groups encouraged to apply for funding
GOVERNMENT GRANTS
Community groups and organisations in the Far North are encouraged to apply for state government grants to help benefit their local communities.
Funding of up to $35,000 is now available under the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) grants.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath urged community groups with not-for-profit objectives to apply for the grants.
“This funding allows our vital community groups to purchase much-needed equipment, upgrade their facilities, host a local event or workshop, and continue delivering important services to diverse sectors across Queensland,” Mrs D’Ath said.
“These local groups are the lifeblood of our communities and it’s important that we support them as much as possible,” Mrs D’Ath said.
“In the silver anniversary year of the fund, it’s exciting to hear about the impact these grants have had over the years, with some organisations continuing their services thanks to multiple grants over the fund’s 25-year history.
“We’ve reached another milestone, surpassing 100 funding rounds, and over this time we have provided more than 57,500 grants, totalling almost $900 million.”
There are now five GCBF funding rounds each year, with grants from $500 to $35,000 on offer.
Eligible organisations have until midnight 31 August 2019 to submit an application.
