Producer Michael Kerr believes “13 the Musical” is one of the best shows to hit Port Douglas in some time and is confident it will be a huge success in its three-night performance at the Clink Theatre.

This sensational musical, which features 12-16 year olds from Port Douglas, Mossman and Julatten, is being performed at the Clink tonight at 7pm; tomorrow and Sunday at 2pm and 7pm.

“The preview was exceptional and rose well above all expectations. I expect, once word is out, people will flock to see this musical,” said Kerr, who is also president of the Douglas Theatre Arts Group.

“There was amazing feedback after the preview on the level of talent and humour that was delivered.”

Some of the comments included: “Haven’t had such a good belly laugh in a long time.” “They are all so talented.” “Amazing, just amazing, you have done it again.”

With a cast of 20 local teens, this challenging musical is a credit to this very talented young group.

Produced by Michael Kerr, Directed by Jennifer Kerr and assisted by Narelle Spencer, this show will make you laugh, make you cry and at points make you blush.

With wit and searing honesty, "13" is a hilarious, high-energy musical for all ages. It's about the lessons one learns throughout life and the discovery that the journey to who you want to be starts with discovering who you are.

Featuring an explosive rock score by celebrated composer Jason Robert Brown (Parade, The Last Five Years, Songs For A New World) and performed by an astonishing cast of young actors, “13” is a grown-up story about growing up.
