POLICE BRIEF

Last updated:

A Port Douglas woman has lost her licence after slow-speed drink driving and becoming stranded on a large rock.

Police were called to an accommodation complex on Sunday, 27 January, just before 11.00am where they found the 37-year-old and her stranded car.

Police allege the woman was driving inside the complex when she left the road and drove over a large rock, getting her car stuck in the process.

Several residents of the complex assisted in freeing the woman from her vehicle before calling police as they suspected she had been drinking.

When police arrived the woman was breath tested and allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.28.

She was charged with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol or a drug and will appear at the Mossman Magistrates Court on 20 February.
